Josiah Goldsmith (Joe) is a contemporary artist working from the UK and S. Korea. Drawing on influences from both East and West, Joe blurs the line between fine art and design.
Blackhorse Lane Ateliers are primarily a selvedge jeans manufacturer, located (and made) in London. We worked together to produce a poster for their participation in the Coal Drops Yard Car Boot Sale, and I was later interviewed by the brand.
The poster itself is, as always, made by hand, which is significant as the same is also true of Blackhorse Lane's jeans. In fact, Blackhorse Lane Ateliers even offer a bespoke service, and lifetime repairs, highlighting their dedication to creating ethical clothing that encourages one to slow down a little.
In the same way, my work isn't fast. It's crafted by hand with care and attention — values I consider important in a society that increasingly values speed and disposability.
